The college has been started in a rural area called Perumallapuram. The very thing is the biggest challenge for the Department of English as everybody knows, the students from rural background are afraid of English as if it were a devil. But, the Department of English is dedicated to eliminate and evaporate the fear in the minds of students about English. As long as English is felt as a subject, it is surely a hard nut to crack. English is not a subject. It is a language and learning of English is a skill. The department is wholeheartedly concentrated on making the students skillful in English. By the time the students leave the institute, they should be self-reliant with regard to their English Communication Skills. Even though fully stuffed in subject knowledge many students are too meager to express in English what they know. This malnutrition has to be replaced with proper nourishment. To achieve this, good quality in teaching be juxtaposed with situational activities. A good  priority is given to LSRW skills in our department.
